Community

CSC (Campus Stores Canada) is a community of institutionally owned and operated campus retailers, their service providers, publishers and suppliers. Together we work to ensure a true north strong and independent campus retail industry. We work together to lower the cost of all learning materials, keep money on campus, and get school spirit to all the members of our institutions.

Campus Stores Canada (CSC) works hard to raise the profile and relevancy of the Canadian campus store industry.  It starts by building a community amongst its membership, offering multiple ways for members to network and share information with one another.

CSC’s website provides general information about the association including the latest news on CSC’s activities. Members also have access to a “Members Only” portal where they can access the Store Directory, Vendor Directory, Picture Repository, and sign up for CSC various email lists.  Members can also manage their institutions membership information and list of contacts.

 BiiG (Buy / Interact / Innovate / Grow)

BiiG is Campus Stores Canada's annual conference and trade show. Every January, CSC plays host to 200+ delegates providing education, networking and experience to the managers and staff of CSC’s members stores. BiiG attracts buyers and managers from all across Canada. Our trade show provides the 80+ institutional member stores of CSC the opportunity to buy their merchandise for the upcoming grad and back-to-school seasons. The conference portion of BiiG offers more than 20 educational seminars for our attendees. We address retail and management topics as well as innovation, and devote an entire stream to the purchase and management of course materials sales. This is an annual opportunity to discuss new developments in our market, and to plan our road ahead.

CSC EMAIL LISTS (For Members Only)

CSC Email Lists are set-up to accommodate networking and information sharing between related store roles in our member stores.

The following Email Lists are available:

  • CSC Managers List - This list is for all CSC Store Managers, Directors and Operations Staff to network and information share on issues related to Bookstore Operations and Management.
  • CSC Books List - This list is for all Text Buyers, Trade Buyers, Health Science Buyers, Book Managers and Supervisors and related staff to solicit additional book requests from other stores, share publishing information and network on various book/publishing related issues.
  • CSC Merchandise List - This list is for all Merchandise Managers, Clothing/Giftware buyers, Supplies/Stationery buyers and General Retail Staff to network in regards to suppliers, products, distributors and any other Merchandise related details.

Members can sign up for any of these lists through the “Members Only” portal on the CSC website.

COMMUNITY BUILDING – EXTERNAL

Campus Stores Canada (CSC) also works hard to raise the profile and relevancy of the Canadian campus store industry to our external audience of partners and stakeholders.

PARTNERS

CSC often collaborates with industry partners such as National Association of College Stores (NACS) , Independent College Bookstore Association (ICBA), Canadian Campus Retail Associates (CCRA), and Coopsco. Together we build the relevancy of campus stores right across North America. CSC works with these partners to promote each other’s events, collaborate on new events and seminars, share research, advocate and give our members access to more resources and information.

STAKEHOLDERS

CSC is also working hard to connect with other higher-ed stakeholders in Canada. Whether it be students, faculty, staff, or administration, campus stores provide an integral service for these stakeholders that goes beyond just selling textbooks and general merchandise. All stakeholders have a genuine interest in lowering costs for students and for enhancing the student experience. CSC strongly believes there needs to be a shared understanding of mandates/motivation of each stakeholder group. This will help ensure information can flow easier to address the issues around affordability and access to essential academic materials. By attending conferences, meeting with and advocating alongside other stakeholders in higher-ed, CSC is building a better awareness of the importance campus stores have within our member institutions.
